Grief / Loss Counselling

Losing a loved one is one of the hardest things that anyone will ever go through. Most of us are aware of the various stages of grief and depending on what website you look at or book you read they vary in number.  denial, anger, pain, depression are all things that come to mind to someone that has lost a loved one.

I’ve met people that have lost a loved one they were not related to or even someone they would see more than once a month but have struggled greatly to overcome this- they were not what you would deem a “close acquaintance”. But this is a perfectly normal thing that most people fail to understand when it comes to grief and loss- there is no “normal”. We are all different and we all react and deal with losing a loved one differently and that is perfectly fine!!  I often get asked how long it will take to get over “this”.  well unfortunately there is no magic answer for that one. but for those of you wondering if you are taking too long, I am confident that you are not and that what you’re going through is perfectly normal.

For those of you considering counselling with me, each session we will work through your thoughts and feelings since the previous session and I will give you strategies to help you cope and get through each day better than you got through the previous one. It is not easy, and it is not something you can overcome in one or two or three weeks, but you have to understand that is perfectly okay.

Experienced Grief Counsellor Online or In Person

I lost my best mate to suicide over 10 years ago, and I lost my mum to Cancer more recently. Clearly the lowest points in my life thus far. But the Sun does rise again, and your life can those people want it to shine one you.

If you are on the Sunshine Coast we can meet in person, otherwise we can have a ZOOM meeting or a telephone call – whatever you are most comfortable with.

And for now – take care.
